Why Replacing Your Fridge or Freezer Seal is a Wise Decision

A fridge seal replacement can help restore an effective seal around your fridge or freezer door. Replacing a worn or damaged gasket may support more efficient operation and help maintain more consistent internal temperatures.

  • Support Energy Efficiency: A properly fitted seal can help reduce cold-air leakage and unnecessary compressor operation.
  • Help Maintain Food Temperature: An effective door seal helps the appliance maintain more consistent internal temperatures.
  • Reduce Unnecessary Appliance Strain: Preventing warm air from entering can help reduce unnecessary workload on the refrigeration system.
  • Maintain a Cleaner Door Area: Replacing a cracked, damaged or mouldy gasket can make the door area easier to keep clean and maintain.

Fridge seal gasket | FAQ

There is no difference! The terms "fridge seal" and "fridge gasket" are used interchangeably to refer to the same part: the flexible, rubber-like strip that lines the inside of your refrigerator door to create an airtight seal. So, whether you're searching for a replacement fridge gasket or a new seal, you are looking for the same product
Start with your appliance brand and locate the complete model number or model code, which is often shown on a label inside the refrigerator or freezer compartment. Search the full model number on our website and review the compatibility information on the relevant product page before ordering. If your model is not listed or you are unsure, contact our team with the complete model number and appliance details so we can help you check the available aftermarket replacement options.
A suitable replacement seal can help restore secure contact between the appliance door and cabinet where the existing gasket is worn, damaged or distorted. Product materials, profiles, fitting methods and compatibility vary between models, so check the relevant product information carefully before ordering. The results also depend on the condition, alignment and operation of the appliance.
Some fridge door seals can be installed by the appliance owner, but the correct method depends on the appliance and seal type. Push-in seals fit into a retaining groove, while screw-in seals are secured behind the door liner and require the surrounding screws to be loosened. Confirm the replacement seal type and follow the installation information supplied for your product. If you are unsure, contact us before installation. Professional installation may be available for selected applications in the Perth metropolitan area.
Cold-air loss or difficulty maintaining temperature can have several causes. Inspect the door seal for cracks, hardened sections, distortion, dirt or visible gaps, and check that the door is correctly aligned and closes securely. Clean the gasket and contact surface where appropriate. If the issue continues, the appliance may require further inspection; a replacement gasket should be considered only when the existing seal is damaged, worn or no longer seating correctly.
The easiest way to check is with a simple paper test. Close a banknote or a piece of paper in the fridge door so that it is halfway in and halfway out. If you can pull it out easily without any drag or resistance, your fridge door is not sealing properly. Other signs include visible moisture on the outside of the door, food spoiling faster than usual, or your fridge running constantly.
We offer a 30-day change-of-mind return option for eligible products, calculated from the date of delivery. Eligibility conditions and exclusions apply. This does not affect your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. Please see our Return Policy for full details.
Replace your fridge seals if you notice any of the following signs:
  • Visible cracks or tears
  • Loose seals
  • Condensation or frost inside the appliance
  • Difficulty closing the door securely
